Dogs Went to the Vet

We had to take the dogs to the vet today. This is actually the second time in a week they have been. Last Friday Coco had to go to get a couple of shots that she was due for. This may sound ridiculous, but we took Ali with for moral support (poor guy was nervous all for nothing - but he didn't know that). When Coco was there they found that a couple of her teeth were bad and thats why they went back today to get their teeth cleaned, and she ended up needed 3 of them pulled. Its so sad dropping them off because they look at you with their big brown eyes (well Ali has big brown eyes, Coco has squinty brown eyes) as if to say, 'what did we do wrong?', 'why are you leaving us here?' or more especially, 'Sunny, why won't you help me?'.

What was really sad and distressing last week though is that while we were waiting for the vet, there was a family sitting there with an older dog; a middle aged couple and their daughter who was maybe 16 - 18 years old. The vet came out and told them that from the blood work the dog's kidneys had shut down, and probably had cancer. They decided right there to put the dog down. The man stormed out, upset, the daughter chased after him crying. Then they took the dog in the back. I was sitting there with Ali and I could hear all the crying from inside. I started to tear up, heck, I am even now thinking about it.

I don't know what kind of impact that had on me, but I was unusually nervous about them going in today. They have both been put under for surgery before (poor Ali multiple times, and Coco when she was fixed). I was sort of nervous all day at work until I got out and heard word that they were all right. I guess I'm just a nervous person is all.

Not sure why I'm writing this, but I figured it would give everyone a break from my excessive Pope posting.

Oh, I hope your doggie feels better soon.

And that breaks my heart about the family.
:(

I will pray for their consolation.
It is hard to lose a friend.

About Me

Catholic and politically conservative, I graduated with a BA in History (concentration in American) and Political Science. I'm between two parishes; one in Wisconsin that is fairly traditional, and one in Illinois that is fairly liberal. I teach CCD. I work in the food service industry, which basically means I'm working in fast food until I find a better job. I'd like to work for the church somehow. Right now I'm working on getting my teaching certification, although I'm unsure thats the correct path for me. This blog is as random as I am. I hope you enjoy.
