Big Therese

“If we plant a flower or a shrub and water it daily it will grow so tall that in time we shall need a spade and a hoe to uproot it. It is just so, I think, when we commit a fault, however small, each day, and do not cure ourselves of it.”

- St. Teresa of Avila quote

Today is my Mom's birthday, she is named for the Little Flower (Therese), but born on Teresa of Avila's day. Around the house we call them Big Therese (Teresa of Avila) and Little Therese (St. Therese of Lisieux). My middle name is Therese for Little Therese too.

I was thinking about how many of the big, important female saints have the name Therese or a derivative of the name. St. Therese of Lisieux, St. Teresa of Avila, St. Teresa Benedicta (Edith Stein), and Mother Teresa.

About Me

My photo
Catholic and politically conservative, I graduated with a BA in History (concentration in American) and Political Science. I'm between two parishes; one in Wisconsin that is fairly traditional, and one in Illinois that is fairly liberal. I teach CCD. I work in the food service industry, which basically means I'm working in fast food until I find a better job. I'd like to work for the church somehow. Right now I'm working on getting my teaching certification, although I'm unsure thats the correct path for me. This blog is as random as I am. I hope you enjoy.
