A Catholic Mom in Hawaii tagged me with the Heaven Meme.
St. Julian of Norwich describes heaven as a place of "eternal joy". She explains: "But we are not blessedly safe, possessing our endless joy, until we are all in peace and in love, that is to say wholly contented with God and with all his works and with all his judgments, and loving and content with ourselves and with our fellow Christians and with everything which God loves, as is pleasing to love."
This meme has one question:
How do you envision heaven?
Its sort of funny because I guess I really have never really thought about it in a serious way. I mean, I sort of have this vague idea that I will be able to see all my family who have passed away (grandparents, my aunt, my sister, etc.), maybe the old family dog (no way we're getting into the animals in heaven debate), certain friends of mine who have passed way too. Plus the added bonus of meeting the spiritual family - ie. the saints and all the other people in heaven. I can see myself now, hanging out in a group with St. Therese, Don Bosco, Padre Pio, and Pius XII. Just chillin'. Maybe Jesus will pop in and say hey.
But then I've also gotten the idea that heaven isn't all about just hanging around (just like our earthly life). There's lots of work that needs to be done. Hopefully I'll have family and friends on Earth that I can be praying for, and of course the big job in heaven is worshipping God.
I guess I don't have a very tehologically based idea of it all. I guess I'll have to work on reading more.

And anyone else who reads this (I always seem to be on the end of these cool memes so by the time I'm tagging people lots have already done it)

About Me
- catholicandgop
- Catholic and politically conservative, I graduated with a BA in History (concentration in American) and Political Science. I'm between two parishes; one in Wisconsin that is fairly traditional, and one in Illinois that is fairly liberal. I teach CCD. I work in the food service industry, which basically means I'm working in fast food until I find a better job. I'd like to work for the church somehow. Right now I'm working on getting my teaching certification, although I'm unsure thats the correct path for me. This blog is as random as I am. I hope you enjoy.
