I'm a Menace to Old Ladies

I'm a menace to old ladies. Today I was sitting outside CVS and this old lady got out of her car and said really loudly what a beautiful day it was. Wasn't sure if she was talking to me so I said 'yes it is', she trips on the curb, knocks her shoe off, falls, breaks her glasses and cuts her forehead and was bleeding. The other old lady got out of the car, helped her up, and they ran into CVS.

I feel bad. Guilty. I shouldn't be allowed around people.

That's what you get for loitering outside of stores. :)

So, back in '86, living in a high rise apt on the beach front in Virginia Beach. Place had been there since right at the end of WW2. Lots of the tenants had lived there since before it was even completed, so there were LOTS of old people living there.

One summer day, I'm riding the elevator down, stops, little old lady gets in and we head on down.

Few seconds later, little old lady, leaning on her cane, pipes up and says, "Ninety today." I looked at her and said, "Oh, well happy birthday."

She looked at me, eyes wide, lips pursed and said, "Not my age! The temperature!"

That elevator couldn't get to the lobby fast enough.

About Me

My photo
Catholic and politically conservative, I graduated with a BA in History (concentration in American) and Political Science. I'm between two parishes; one in Wisconsin that is fairly traditional, and one in Illinois that is fairly liberal. I teach CCD. I work in the food service industry, which basically means I'm working in fast food until I find a better job. I'd like to work for the church somehow. Right now I'm working on getting my teaching certification, although I'm unsure thats the correct path for me. This blog is as random as I am. I hope you enjoy.
