9/11 and America's Pastime

A friend of mine had free tickets to the Sox game so we went this evening. Security was different at today's game than normal. I had my purse checked twice before entering the stadium, and they patted down my brothers jacket which wasn't normal. They had a moment of silence to remember the victims of 9/11 which was very eerie because its not normal to have almost 32,000 people so quiet. A group of some kind sang the National Anthem, and again it was quiet. Usually people cheer through the last line or so, but this time it was quiet until the end. I'm not sure if that had anything to do with the day though.

As usual though the Sox stunk. We did stay through the end of the game. By the end of the game the place was pretty empty. We kept joking that Bobby Jenks doesn't even come in to work anymore, its just a cardboard cutout of him in the back. Oh well, at least it was free.

I took this one as we were leaving. The city is very beautiful at night, the picture really doesn't capture that.

This is beautiful! BTW, I saw your photos in blogline so they were large and they looked great!

That's very nice that a baseball game takes the time and effort to do that. I hope it never changes.

Will Ozzie be the ChiSox manager after this season?

I don't think he will.

Actually they signed him until 2012 yesterday. LOL. We were all sort of like 'yay Ozzie, but we still stink!'

What color are the Sears antennae?
They look red and green from the photo, but it's much too early for that.
Are they red and blue?

It does look green. Maybe its red and green for something else.

They signed Ozzie to a contract extension?!

What, do they like having him around to see what kind of crazy talk he can come out with?

Oh, well. I guess I should be happy. At least if he's with the ChiSox the Orioles won't be able to sign him as manager.

Cath,

It was for Mexican Independence Day. I realized it much later.

About Me

My photo
Catholic and politically conservative, I graduated with a BA in History (concentration in American) and Political Science. I'm between two parishes; one in Wisconsin that is fairly traditional, and one in Illinois that is fairly liberal. I teach CCD. I work in the food service industry, which basically means I'm working in fast food until I find a better job. I'd like to work for the church somehow. Right now I'm working on getting my teaching certification, although I'm unsure thats the correct path for me. This blog is as random as I am. I hope you enjoy.
