Gaudete Sunday

Today is Gaudete Sunday, the third Sunday of advent, and the pink candle on the advent wreath.

When I was little I always waited for the pink candle to be lit on the advent wreath at church because that meant that Christmas was only a week away (the final candle meant, in my little mind, that it was Christmas week).

Of course back then my idea of Christmas was presents. Advent was the season of telling people what you wanted and then waiting for those gifts. Of course now I'm waiting for Christmas to celebrate our Lord's birth, the greatest gift.

About Me

My photo
Catholic and politically conservative, I graduated with a BA in History (concentration in American) and Political Science. I'm between two parishes; one in Wisconsin that is fairly traditional, and one in Illinois that is fairly liberal. I teach CCD. I work in the food service industry, which basically means I'm working in fast food until I find a better job. I'd like to work for the church somehow. Right now I'm working on getting my teaching certification, although I'm unsure thats the correct path for me. This blog is as random as I am. I hope you enjoy.
