Rush Limbaugh Records Audio Spots for The HSUS

April 14, 2009

Rush Limbaugh has recorded two statements of support for The Humane Society of the United States and its work to protect animals from cruelty and abuse: The first spot is on our partnerships with law enforcement agencies across the country to crack down on organized dogfighting and other animal cruelty crimes.

The second is on our outreach to communities of faith, and the moral obligation that we have to be good stewards of God's creatures.

The HSUS welcomes such vigorous statements of support from Americans of all points of view, and is grateful to Rush Limbaugh for reaching out to his audience with a message of kindness and compassion for animals. Like two-thirds of American households, Rush shares his home with a beloved pet – his cat, Punkin.

The HSUS is a nonpartisan organization dedicated to making ours a kinder world for animals. Among our 11 million supporters – one in every 28 Americans – are Republicans, Democrats and Independents.

Please read the following from Wayne Pacelle from his blog. Read the last paragraph then decide if you would like the farmers and ranchers of our nation forced out of business and higher food costs to you the consumer as well as endangering the safety of the food supply. That is the what HSUS really stands for.

Limbaugh speaks out against animal fighting and cruelty and in support of caring for animals who are our responsibility as caretakers of God's creation. Animal protection is one issue we should all agree on, no matter our politics.
to Texas Cattlewoman: You can't be a compassionate Christian and support the inhumane suffering that farm animals endure on factory farms in the U.S. each day. That is not faithful stewardship of God's creatures. Check out the Pew Commission on Industrial Farm Animal Production report on the U.S. animal agriculture industry at and get the facts.

It's odd that you would put that blog up as evidence of what Pacelle and The HSUS believes, for it's an appeal to support animal husbandry that's more traditional and less harsh to the animals. That's what the book is about. The HSUS has been supporting the 3 Rs approach for years; and now you want to treat it like a scandal? Reduce consumption for ecological reasons, raise the animals in a more humane fashion, and be supportive of vegetarians who decide that this diet's right for them as a matter of free choice? What's wrong with that?

I say thumbs up to Rush Limbaugh for speaking out against dogfighting and for promoting the compassionate treatment of animals.

Anon - thank you for saying that. I find it sad that people try to twist Wayne Pacelle's words like that. The HSUS has always been upfront in what they stand for.

It's about compassion for all of God's creatures. Period.

And kudos to Rush for standing up for animals.

About Me

My photo
Catholic and politically conservative, I graduated with a BA in History (concentration in American) and Political Science. I'm between two parishes; one in Wisconsin that is fairly traditional, and one in Illinois that is fairly liberal. I teach CCD. I work in the food service industry, which basically means I'm working in fast food until I find a better job. I'd like to work for the church somehow. Right now I'm working on getting my teaching certification, although I'm unsure thats the correct path for me. This blog is as random as I am. I hope you enjoy.
