GALLUP — Bishop Donald Pelotte, of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Gallup, was hospitalized Sunday afternoon after a serious fall in his home. The details surrounding the incident are sketchy, as Catholic officials say they have very little information at this time.

The bishop was taken to the hospital in Gallup and later flown to the John C. Lincoln Hospital in Phoenix, said the Rev. James P. Hoy, finance director for the diocese.

"We're still not sure what has happened," Hoy said. "He fell at home and has some head injuries."

A public relations representative at the hospital did not return a call requesting the bishop's condition.

"The injuries — we haven't had any indication that they are life-threatening, but they are serious," Hoy said.

About Me

My photo
Catholic and politically conservative, I graduated with a BA in History (concentration in American) and Political Science. I'm between two parishes; one in Wisconsin that is fairly traditional, and one in Illinois that is fairly liberal. I teach CCD. I work in the food service industry, which basically means I'm working in fast food until I find a better job. I'd like to work for the church somehow. Right now I'm working on getting my teaching certification, although I'm unsure thats the correct path for me. This blog is as random as I am. I hope you enjoy.
